The grand opening of Ease Living – Songjiang Zhongshan Community was recently held, marking the official launch of Shanghai’s first large-scale rental housing community.

The condominium is spread over 18,000 square meters and includes over 1,100 square meters of shared public space and five large outdoor social areas. It features three dormitory buildings with 438 shared rooms in 4-person, 6-person and 8-person configurations. Each room has separate lockers and a bathroom with four partitions. Other amenities include a shared kitchen, public laundry room, shared gym and 24/7 free drinking water.

The community’s commercial street is nearing completion and will provide services such as a supermarket, Chinese fast food restaurant, fruit shop, pharmacy and hair salon. Housing units and public areas have been tested before commissioning to ensure comprehensive management and professional services. The aim is to provide high-quality, multi-story rental housing in line with Songjiang District’s principle of “industry-urban integration, work-living balance and diverse quality of life”.

The residential complex was developed by Ease Living Group, a member of Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, China’s leading asset management platform for affordable rental housing, providing housing solutions for over 300 enterprises and high-quality housing for over 100,000 young professionals.

“The Songjiang Zhongshan Community has more than 400 dormitory-like rooms on the Suishenban platform, with a total of more than 2,700 beds,” said Wu Tao, co-general manager of Ease Living Group.

The municipality’s goal is to attract young talent to Songjiang and the G60 Sci-Tech Innovation Corridor and thus contribute to the economic and social development of the district.
