The Bills signed Claypool to a one-year contract in May. Three months later, he landed on the injured list due to a toe injury. This is another setback for his once promising career. After the Pittsburgh Steelers selected him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he achieved career highs in receptions (62), receiving yards (873) and touchdowns (9) in his rookie season.

Unfortunately, things went downhill for the former Notre Dame star after that year. From 860 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2021, Claypool only managed 451 yards and one touchdown in 15 games for the Steelers and Chicago Bears the following year.

Worse still, the player Pittsburgh selected in the trade that sent Claypool to Chicago (Joey Porter Jr.) finished seventh in the 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year balloting. Claypool delivered a miserable 191 yards and one touchdown in ten games with the Bears.

During the 2023 season, the Bears traded Claypool and a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Miami Dolphins. He didn’t accomplish much for his new team, finishing the season with just four catches for 26 yards in nine games.

Claypool is expected to return to action in 2025, with career stats including 183 catches for 2,351 yards and 15 touchdowns in 61 games (including playoffs).
