The restaurant scene in downtown Rochester, Minnesota, has changed dramatically in recent years, with popular spots like Newt’s, Hefe Rojo and Pescara closing.

Last year, The Well Dining opened where Dooley’s used to be, but it closed within a year. The Half Barrel, located on the corner of 1st and 3rd, will also close in 2023. Unfortunately, the dining scene in downtown Rochester continues to evolve, and another restaurant is closing its doors. The announcement was made on social media, read the statement below.

New Restaurants in Downtown Rochester, MN

There’s been some good news for foodies lately, with a few new restaurants opening, including BEBAP, a Korean-inspired eatery with a seasonal menu that changes throughout the year.

Ruth’s Chris, America’s largest restaurant chain, has also opened a location in downtown Rochester.

Another new restaurant, Mill Valley Kitchen, just opened this month in the space that used to house Pescara.

Last July, I spoke to Timothy Ross about his new restaurant. He was excited about the menu and told me that it would feature American classics like burgers and sandwiches as well as a selection of international dishes.

I asked Tim for details for the story announcing the new restaurant and he was always very kind and generous with his time. I’m disappointed that the project didn’t work out.

The 507 Public House celebrated its one-year anniversary in downtown Rochester in late July, but just shared a message on Facebook announcing its closure.

Good news and bad news. Let’s start with the good. On July 25th we passed the one year mark. That’s always the worst. Thank you to all of our wonderful guests for getting us to this point. Bad news: Saturday, August 25th will be our last day of operation.
