Lions donate to Camille Place

The Atmore Lions Club meeting on August 6 at the Atmore Community Hospital was opened by Club President Lion Joyce Petty, who also recited the Pledge of Allegiance and said the prayer and blessing. Hannah Helton, Maggie Helton, Chris Ziebach and Mike Von Keyserling were introduced as visitors.
After lunch, Lion Renee Hardy and Lion Joyce Petty reported on their visit to Camp Seale Harris, where they prepared a dinner for 150 children and staff. In attendance were Candace Wooten, Chuck Brooks, Ken Sessions, Renee Hardy, Marie Blair and Joyce Petty.
Lions Gregg Akins and Bub Gideons reported on the district cabinet meeting they attended. Lion Gideons said the Atmore Club has been asked to host the next District 34C meeting on February 22, 2025. Lions Petty, Gideons and Nancy Karrick reported on the Multiple District 34 leadership training session they attended in Montgomery.
Atmore Lions are selling tickets for a raffle to support the Alabama Lions at the Alabama-Auburn game and a hotel room in Tuscaloosa. Tickets are $10 and any Lion can provide information on how to secure these tickets. Plans for Taste of the South on September 19 have been noted and the date for Williams Station has been announced.
Lion Taylor Lee introduced Hannah Helton, administrator of The Summit, who spoke about what residents were allowed to do and what care they received, as well as explaining what services were not available to residents.
Additionally, Chris Ziebach gave an update on Camille Place and said that they will soon have a mental health facility for girls and boys who have been victims of human trafficking. The facility currently serves and educates girls ages 6-19. She mentioned that a 16-year-old has not been to school in years and is in third grade. Chris was presented with a check from Atmore Lions to support them in their projects and service in our area.
