Brazilian companies weigh the benefits and costs of multicloud usage

According to ISG Provider Lens™ report, Brazilian companies are increasingly turning to providers with FinOps expertise

SÃO PAULO, August 14, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The popularity of multicloud infrastructure has increased in Brazil as enterprises increasingly view migration to the cloud as a competitive imperative, according to a new research report released today by Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a leading global technology research and advisory firm.

The ISG Provider Lens™ Google Cloud Partner Ecosystem Report 2024 for Brazil finds that as hybrid and multicloud environments become more prevalent, Brazilian organizations are looking for integrated solutions to manage their multicloud ecosystems. Google Cloud’s Anthos, a hybrid, cloud-agnostic container environment, is widely used in Brazil to orchestrate hybrid and multicloud infrastructures, the ISG report says.

“Multicloud environments bring with them a number of complexities,” said Anay Nawathe, head of cloud delivery for the Americas at ISG. “Service providers have more experience helping customers carefully manage their environments so they can leverage the unique capabilities of each cloud provider while optimizing overall costs.”

Public cloud costs remain a major concern for Brazilian companies, which need to optimize their resources and increase efficiency while minimizing risks, the ISG report said. Companies are demanding better practices and tools that provide effective cost management while maintaining high performance, reliability and security standards, the report said.

As a result, companies in Brazil are increasingly looking for providers that can demonstrate competencies in FinOps, a cost management approach that helps customers maximize the value of their investments in public cloud services, according to ISG. Providers are responding by strengthening their FinOps competencies, the report said. This includes adopting Google Cloud best practices and tools that provide cost management without compromising the performance, reliability and security needed to support business operations.

Still in their infancy are advanced FinOps solutions that use AI to predict future cloud usage patterns, the ISG report said. These solutions will enable Brazilian companies to proactively scale resources, negotiate better prices in advance and avoid unexpected cost spikes, the report said.

“Companies in Brazil see the cloud as a cornerstone of digital transformation,” said Jan Erik Aase, partner and global head of ISG Provider Lens Research. “But as cloud infrastructure becomes more complex, controlling costs becomes more challenging and important.”

The report also examines the growing demand for data modernization, governance, security and managed services that can create more reliable data environments.
