Airport employee crushed to death by glass elevator, spectators recoil in horror

In a scene that felt like it came from the next Final goalAn airport employee died after a glass elevator crushed him to death in front of the passengers. The incident occurred in Thailand.

You really wouldn’t wish something like that on even your worst enemy. Mechanic Wisatrat Tangsoh probably felt panic and horror when the two-ton glass elevator crushed him. The 22-year-old airport employee had just been carrying out maintenance work at the bottom of the elevator shaft when the machine crashed down on him.

Traumatized travelers recoiled in horror when they heard the mechanic’s screams of pain. Colleagues quickly secured the area and tried to rescue the mechanic before it was too late. The incident occurred in the departure terminal of Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok.

The airport employee’s colleagues from the Asian Elevator company arrived too late. They found Wisatrat’s remains surrounded by a pool of blood at the bottom of the shaft. The 22-year-old was apparently trying to get a wrench out of the shaft. Then the elevator slowly began to descend on him.

Elevator kills airport employee

The airport employee tried desperately to escape, but he was unsuccessful. Likewise, no one could stop the elevator in time without crushing him. Rescue workers confirmed his death at the scene. He reportedly suffered a serious head injury from the force of the elevator. After his death, officials cordoned off the area.

The airport appears to blame the worker for his own death.

A statement from Suvarnabhumi International Airport said: “Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased did not follow safety procedures, which led to the accident that caused his death. Airports of Thailand (AOT) has coordinated with doctors and police to examine the accident scene with forensic experts. AOT has temporarily cordoned off the area.”

It continued: “We would like to confirm that the accident was not caused by a malfunction of the elevator in the area. The AOT would like to express its condolences to the family of the deceased. We will fully cooperate with the investigation to determine the cause of the accident.”

Authorities will continue to investigate the incident.
