Dale Edward Halpin – O’Donnell-Cookson’s Celebration of Life Home – Muddy River News

Dale Edward Halpin, 94, of Hannibal, formerly of Quincy, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal, MO.

Mr. Halpin was born on September 22, 1929 in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Edward and Effie (Howard) Halpin. He married Irene C. LaPoint on January 14, 1951. She predeceased him on September 28, 2016.

Mr. Halpin was an engineer with Quincy Broadcasting Co. for 38 years, retiring in March 1992. He was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and Central Technical Institute of Kansas City. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the First Cavalry Division. He was a former officer of Business Men’s Full Gospel and also an officer of the Korean War Veterans Association. He was a member of the American Legion, the RSVP Advisory Council, and was a volunteer with the American Red Cross for many years. Mr. Halpin attended services at Pleasant View Assisted Living through God’s Harvesters.

He is survived by three sons: Dr. Stephen E. Halpin (Joni) of Hannibal, Missouri, Kevin M. Halpin (Candace) of Maryland Heights, Missouri, and Craig A. Halpin (Julie) of O’Fallon; eight grandchildren: Brandon Halpin (Cody), Jared Halpin (Kelsee), Jennifer Parks (Sean), Connor Halpin (Lauren), Cullen Halpin (Lauren), Carley Halpin, Kristina Hicks (Adam), and Nicole McAllister (Kevin); eleven great-grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife Irene, his parents, three sisters, Rozella VanNess, LaDonna Jacobs and Mary Buckley, two brothers, Robert Halpin and Duane Halpin, and an infant sibling.

Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Brother Ron Pashia. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, IL. Full military ceremonies will be conducted by the American Legion Post 37 and the United States Army Funeral Honors Detail.

Pallbearers are Brandon Halpin, Jared Halpin, Jennifer Parks, Connor Halpin, Cullen Halpin, Carley Halpin, Kristina Hicks and Nicole McAllister.

Memorial contributions may be made to God’s Harvesters, Inc. (Hannibal, MO) or Pleasant View Assisted Living (Hannibal, MO).
