MOON TOWNSHIP, PA — For the second day in a row, Allegheny County police have filed charges after seizing a gun at the main security checkpoint at Pittsburgh International Airport.

On Tuesday afternoon, Transportation Security Administration officials noticed a handgun in a passenger’s carry-on luggage and notified police.

The man with the gun was identified as Christopher Brandon Batson, 39, who police said did not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. He faces a charge of carrying a firearm without a license.

The firearm was confiscated and the FBI was notified.

On Monday, police issued a warning to a Florida woman after confiscating a .380-caliber pistol at a security checkpoint.

According to police, 30 firearms were confiscated at airport security checkpoints this year; eleven of these seizures led to criminal charges.

Passengers who bring firearms into an airport checkpoint face a fine of up to $10,000 from the Transportation Security Administration. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $13,910.
