Grand opening of Avery Lynn Memorial Park

No one expects to lose a child, and especially not 10 days before their third birthday! But that’s exactly what happened on January 21, 2024, when Avery Lynn Beckman went to heaven in a tragic farm accident. Everyone knows funerals are very expensive, and her great uncle James Brixey set up a Go Fund Me account. As news of the accident spread, donations poured in from all over. As donations continued to rise, the idea of a park in her memory came about. Avery loved to play at every park she visited, so this seemed like the perfect way to use the memorial money. Donations from a derby raffle, several 50/50 raffles, a cooler raffle, a darts tournament, and hundreds of donations raised more money than was needed for expenses, and so the park idea became a reality! Avery’s Grandpa Dan Beckman and Great Aunt Cherina Beckman agreed to donate their land in Prairie City, SD for the park’s location. Planning went on for 5 months, equipment and fencing materials were purchased and then in June the earthwork finally began! In just two short months, with the help of around 100 different people, additional donations and many prayers, the park became a reality and completed!! On Saturday, August 2024, the grand opening was held with over 300 people in attendance! Now children of all ages can swing “oh so high” for generations to come while the sweetest little angel watches over them. Avery Lynn Memorial Park will be a forever memory of a beautiful little girl who loved playing outside, the color purple, Minnie Mouse and was loved by so many!! Avery Lynn Beckman 02/01/21-01/21/24 Forever, almost 3.
