Ashland Manor tenants receive reminders for “non-payment of rent”

Ashland Manor tenants receive reminders for “non-payment of rent”

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Nearly a dozen Ashland Manor residents returned home this week to find a note on their door saying they owed rent they had already paid.

“I paid my rent this month,” one resident, Tyree Daniels, told 13 Action News. However, his letter stated, “$534 in rent not paid.”

Daniels said his rent was $252 a month, meaning he owed over two months’ rent. The letter also said he had to pay or vacate the premises by August 12, a three-day deadline.

13 Action News reported earlier this week about piles of trash in the hallways of Ashland Manor.

The notice of non-payment of rent came after the property changed ownership this week, with residents receiving a letter on their door informing them of the switch to Premier Property Management LLC.

One tenant said this was his third management company in the last year.

Another resident told 13 Action News that he went to the leasing office to ask about the notice and that management could not find his file in the system.

Ashland Manor is a public housing complex subsidized by the Department of Building and Urban Development. Daniels said many residents cannot afford unexpected expenses.

13 Action News has reached out to Premier Property Management LLC and is awaiting a response.
