Trillion reports revival of gas field production off the coast of Türkiye

Trillion Energy produced 140 million cubic feet from the SASB gas field in the first 35 days of production, with production from the wells commencing in staggered phases from July 9 to July 28, the company said in an Aug. 14 news release.

SASB is a natural gas field in the southwestern Black Sea that supplies natural gas to Turkey. Trillion’s revitalization program has already achieved a full payback of recent perforation investments, the company said.

The entire remaining gas reservoir on the Akcakoca platform has been perforated, including three long-reaching deviated gas wells – the Guluc-2, South Akcakoca-2 and West Akcakoca-1 wells – as well as the rehabilitated Akcakoca-3 legacy well, all drilled as part of the 2022-2023 program.

South Akcakoca-2 produced for 36 days at a stabilized rate of approximately 2.75 MMcf/d. Guluc-2’s average production was 2 MMcf/d before stabilizing at 1.25 MMcf/d.

West Akcakoca-1 has been producing an average of 0.60 MMcf/d with some irregularities and has not yet stabilized. Akcakoca-3 has been perforated but no gas has flowed yet. Wellhead pressure is steadily increasing from 100 psi to 478 psi and Trillion said gas production should begin soon.

Gas production from the Akcakoca platform has averaged 4.6 MMcf/d since completion of the perforation program.

The production results were positive and gave Trillion reason to reduce the size of its production pipes in order to stabilize gas production at the targeted level.

“Drilling on the Akcakoca platform has been successfully completed and gas production and water yield performance continue to increase,” said CEO Arthur Halleran. “This early return on our investment is a clear indication of the field’s robust production potential.”

Trillion owns a 49% stake in SASB Field.
