What you should know

  • 80s Artisan Market in the Center Court of the Sherman Oaks Galleria
  • Sunday, August 18th from 11am to 3pm
  • Free entry; enjoy shopping for handicrafts, dancing to retro music and enjoying the general 80s vibe

How will you approach 818 Day in an authentic way, in the absolutely radical way that it should be?

You can visit and support a favorite San Fernando Valley business to show your love for this absolutely amazing region and its iconic area code.

You can pop a few VHS tapes into the old VCR and watch some of the best movies ever made in the Valley. And yes, many of them rose to prominence in the 1980s and definitely continue to rock.

Or you can head to the Galleria—that would be the Sherman Oaks Galleria, of course—for the 80s Artisan Market, which just happens to be bringing the decade’s dayglo energy on, oh yeah, August 18th.

This is 818 Day, the valley’s annual celebration, and while other festivities pop up around the SFV—the Topanga Social is a weekend-long celebration—the Galleria gathering is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Entry to the craft market is free, there’s “throwback” style music, and you’re wearing your jellies, leg warmers, and face glitter? If you’re an 80s fan, you should always sport your flashiest, most neon-colored things, no matter what the day or occasion.

The four-hour event is the brainchild of My Valley Pass, the Valley-loving collective who also happen to love all things ’80s, including some of the era’s best popcorn flicks.

Visit the My Valley Pass site for more Valley-themed tours, demonstrations and events.
