Jasper 12U Baseball returns home in style

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Jasper’s 12U Little League team is back in town.

“We just had a lot of fun, these guys are tough guys, the epitome of Jasper baseball,” said head coach Jared Brosmer.

The team won the state title and came one game short of reaching the Little League World Series. It’s safe to say they put on a great show for their city.

“A lot of fans came and watched us. And we were on ESPN. It’s fun to have all these people watching,” said one of the players, Grant Levin.

Now that the team’s journey has come to an end, head coach Jared Brosmer said the community has shown their love for the team, especially during today’s welcoming parade.

“When we passed by here, there were probably a thousand people on the highway, you couldn’t ask for a better community. They love baseball, they love sports, they love their band, they love tennis, they love everything. Anytime someone does something, they’re behind you 100%,” said Coach Brosmer.

Even though the journey is now over, the boys are left with memories that they will keep forever.

“Hanging out with friends, our coaches and our fans. Especially Amber,” said player Ashton Patton.

“My favorite part was hanging out with friends at the hotel and complaining about the noise because it was kind of funny,” said another player, Turner Hoffman.

When talking to the boys, it was clear that they were making sure to have fun the whole time.

“One of them said they would tickle you. Have you ever been tickled in the middle of a game?” I asked.

“No, but maybe in the dugout,” said Grant Levin.

And while the players had a blast, their head coach Jared Brosmer, whose son played on the team, also took home special memories.

“Probably the hardest part is being there with my son. And these kids grow in the last three to four weeks,” coach Brosmer said.

Now that the team is back, they can look back and, of course, celebrate.
