Gas prices mostly falling, but rising again in some regions

Gas prices mostly falling, but rising again in some regions

SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) – Some locals said they didn’t know what to expect!

“It was two dollars down the street here and then I come here and it’s $3.19, so I’m used to it. I should have gas down there first, but these things happen,” said Gainesville resident Sean Jackson.

“You put in $20 and it doesn’t even fill half the tank, so it gets expensive,” said Sebastian Martinez, another Gainesville resident.

AAA Texas said the market average is still declining across the state. “The typical pattern we see is that prices spike in the spring and early summer, then can fluctuate during the summer, and then as we approach fall they usually start to drop again unless there is a hurricane,” AAA Texas spokesman Daniel Armbruster said. He said fluctuations are possible with Labor Day coming up.

Statistics from GasBuddy show that the price has already dropped about 10 cents per gallon since last week. “Fall is expected to see prices below $3 per gallon. Typically, gas prices really start to drop in late September. In about a month, we also switch back to cheaper winter gasoline… As Americans get back into the daily grind, so to speak, demand for gasoline is starting to slowly drop. With schools reopening, there are fewer summer vacations and fewer road trips,” said Patrick De Haan, head of Petroleum Analysis.

With gasoline prices fluctuating, we remind you to practice good driving habits. Drive within the speed limit, use cruise control when safe, and avoid rapid acceleration.
