Woah Amarillo, this popular caffeine spot is closed

Woah Amarillo, this popular caffeine spot is closed

Here in Amarillo, you turn around for a moment and everything changes. Last week, I took a few days and drove out of the city. When I came back and drove through our great city, I noticed something big.

The Starbucks on Georgia Street in Wolflin Village is closed. And not only is it closed, it’s completely destroyed. The sign is gone. They ripped up the drive-thru menu in the parking lot. There’s not much to see there anymore.

So I wondered about their fate. What was going on? Will they come back? I know we have a lot of coffee shops here in Amarillo, but this one was a classic. We can’t lose it, can we?

Thankfully, the answer to that is a resounding no. According to their Google listing, they are only temporarily closed, so that’s good news.

What are they doing? A huge renovation. When I drove by, nothing inside was the same. They definitely gutted the place. The sign outside was actually gone. The best part is the drive-thru menu was gone. They broke up the concrete bed it had been sitting on.

I was wondering what they were doing with it. The drive-thru area was a mess before. There is a large area between Starbucks and the drive-thru area that everyone leaving the Wolflin Village parking lot drives right into. There was always a concern that someone would be in too much of a hurry to get their coffee and drive right into someone trying to drive onto Austin Street. Things like that happen.

So I’m excited that maybe they’ve found a solution to this. I’ve been trying to figure out how to fix it. Luckily, this is way above my pay grade and hopefully someone else has found a solution.

I will enjoy watching this transformation. I am in this parking lot almost every day. I can’t wait to see it in operation again.
