Man arrested after attacking 7-year-old girl in Reston store

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A 25-year-old man was arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl at a Reston store, according to Fairfax County police.

The incident occurred on August 9 at around 10:30 p.m. in the 11100 block of South Lakes Drive. The girl and her mother noticed the man, identified as Arturo Elmore-Adon of Reston, following them into the store. Arturo reportedly touched the girl inappropriately and took a photo of her without her consent before leaving the area.

Police arrested Arturo on August 12 and charged him with aggravated sexual assault and unauthorized creation of an image of a minor.

    WASHINGTON, DC — A suspect was arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred in Northeast DC on Tuesday, August 13

    At approximately 8:34 a.m., a victim reported being attacked from behind in the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast, whereupon the suspect snatched her cell phone and fled on foot. Fifth Precinct officers responded quickly, relayed the suspect’s description, and located him nearby.

    After investigation, 19-year-old Christian Pickney of Northeast was arrested and charged with robbery.

  • Winning ticket for $213 million Powerball jackpot sold in Allegheny County

    MIDDLETOWN, PA — A Pennsylvania lottery retailer in Allegheny County sold a Powerball ticket valued at $213.8 million for the Monday, August 12, drawing.

    The winning ticket, purchased at AJ’s Pizza at 3565 Harts Run Road in Pittsburgh, matched all five white balls (9-22-57-67-68) and the red Powerball number (14), winning the jackpot. The winner can choose between an estimated annuity worth $213.8 million or a lump sum payment of $106.4 million before taxes. As a reward for selling the winning ticket, AJ’s Pizza will receive a $100,000 bonus.

    This is the sixth Powerball jackpot won in 2024 and the 20th in Pennsylvania since the game began in 1992. The previous Powerball jackpot in Pennsylvania was won in August 2022 on a ticket sold in Westmoreland County worth $206.9 million. This latest jackpot run generated over $16.6 million in revenue and benefited elderly Pennsylvania residents with a $6.6 million win.
