As promised, I went after the morning show was flooded with so many calls and messages asking why I hadn’t been to the legendary Squan Tavern. The restaurant and bar are as advertised. Which is to say, fantastic.
I was happy to try three main dishes on the menu and the Tavern did not disappoint. First up was the staple, a house bar pizza, sweet sausage and green pepper pizza.

The piece was intact, I could hold the crust and the top didn’t fall off at all. The cheese, the combination of sausage and peppers and the Italian food are all perfect.
Then we continued with the grandma pie, which with the sauce and mozzarella cheese offered a very special explosion of flavor, a real feel-good meal.

And of course the meatballs. I was hooked from the start when owner Joe and his sister Trish took me back to the kitchen to see where the magic began. The meatballs were slowly cooking in a pot of sauce, well gravy if you ask me, and looked delicious.

They were fantastic. And yes, we will be back!
