PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – A Providence man was sentenced in Providence County Superior Court to 14 years in ACI for shooting an 18-year-old supermarket clerk.

Emmanuel Narcisse, 21, was sentenced on August 9 to 22 years in prison, including 14 years in the ACI and an eight-year suspended sentence with 22 years probation.

In January, Narcisse was found guilty of one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of discharging a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and one count of illegally carrying a pistol.

On October 1, 2020, Providence Police responded to calls of a shooting at the GI Joe’s Convenience Store on Smith Street, where officers found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the right leg.

The victim reported that two people left the store, one of them with an item he had not paid for.

He confronted her outside and a physical altercation ensued, in which two other perpetrators got involved. One of them shot the victim in the leg, fired at the victim’s car and then fled the scene.

Surveillance footage from the store and across the street confirmed the victim’s account of the incident, and Narcisse was identified from the footage and witness statements.

Narcisse was arrested on December 20, 2020.
