Plane lands upside down at airport, pilot survives

Plane lands upside down at airport, pilot survives

CGI is a crazy thing in 2024 – they can make it look like everything really happened in movies and on TV.

But this really happened: A pilot landed his plane upside down at the airport and survived.

We head to the beautiful state of Rhode Island for this gem that happened at Quonset State Airport. One look from above is enough to see that it is a really beautiful place to take off and land:

Quonset State Airport, or OQU for short, is home to the Air and Army National Guard, who use the facility for training and flight operations, so while this airport probably sees some cool action, it hasn’t seen anything resembling what recently unfolded on the tarmac.

According to local news station WPRI, the airport received a mayday call on Saturday afternoon, August 10, from a small plane reporting engine problems.

And before you know it, the plane has seemingly landed safely on the runway… until you look closer and realize that it landed upside down.

All that is known about the aircraft is that it was a single-engine aircraft registered in Cape Cod. Further investigation will reveal its final destination.

What we do know, however, is that it landed on the runway like an upside-down pineapple cake:

Imagine you’re on duty at the airport, minding your own business, and you see a plane coming in upside down. You might think you’ve had too much to drink and are seeing ghosts.

The pilot was taken to a hospital in Rhode Island for further evaluation but is expected to survive the incident.
