The fun continues on September 14th from 10am to 12pm when Mr. Leo Puppet Show comes along with his pop-up puppet bus to give children an unforgettable, playful and imaginative adventure with free, interactive performances featuring puppets, marionettes and magic.

New to City Place’s programming calendar, the Houston Humane Society Wildlife Center will host free workshops to teach children how to conserve, protect, and coexist with wildlife in the city. The interactive and engaging programs will take place on September 15 and 22, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

On September 21st from 7:30pm, Pix on The Plaza will present an outdoor screening of the classic family film Matilda. Free slices of the film’s famous “Bruce Bogtrotter’s Chocolate Fudge Cake” will be available while supplies last. Blankets and low chairs are welcome.

As part of its ongoing commitment to presenting innovative, site-specific public art installations, City Place has commissioned Austin-based artist and musician Steve Parker to create a new experiential journey for guests. The pop-up piece, “Invisible Music,” uses repurposed brass instruments to orchestrate a symphonic meditation on nature in scenic City Place Park. The sculptural brass instruments will be incorporated into a soundscape adapted from French composer Eric Satie’s “Furniture Music” and set against a sound backdrop of natural sounds, including insects, birds and bats, as well as native fauna and flora. Additionally, participants can activate a series of interactive sculptures in the green space surrounding the pond, transforming the entire musical composition. “Invisible Music” is open to the public and free, and can be experienced daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. through September 15.

City Place’s next art installation, “As Water Falls,” will debut on September 28. Designed by artist Daniel Iregui of Montreal-based digital art studio Iregular, the multifaceted work operates at the intersection of art and technology as a large, virtual waterfall with an accompanying soundscape. Realized for the first time in a cube format with four virtual, ever-changing displays, “As Water Falls” is also the first to be interactive through touch, allowing participants to alter the digital cascades. The installation is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily from September 28 to November 10 and is free, and is best experienced after sunset.
