Woman arrested at Applebee’s after challenging restaurant’s all-you-can-eat rules

According to police, a woman was arrested after she got into an argument with an Applebees manager about the exact terms of an “all you can eat” offer.

Shawneesha Cobbs, 28, and members of her family visited an Applebees in Indiana earlier this month and decided to order an all-you-can-eat meal.

Just before 8:40 p.m., Portage, Indiana police were called to the restaurant to assist with a reported disturbance. When they arrived, they found several people arguing loudly inside the restaurant.

A woman who spoke to police said she, Cobbs, another man and several children argued with the Applebee’s manager over the terms of the restaurant’s all-you-can-eat offer.

The group believed that if one member of the group ordered the $15.99 deal, they could simply keep asking for food until the whole group had enough to eat.

The manager explained to the group that this was not the case and that each person who ordered food from the all-you-can-eat menu would have to pay $16. Fox32 reports.

This sparked an argument between the guests and the manager. The guests accused the manager of unprofessional behavior and claimed that the menu did not clearly state that it was a per person deal and not a per group deal.

Cobbs reportedly tried to emphasize this point by giving a Portage police officer a menu to review. The officer spotted the part of the menu that stated that Applebee’s deal was “per person” and brought it to Cobbs’ attention.

Meanwhile, a couple left the restaurant. Cobbs noticed them and reportedly made it clear that there had been a previous confrontation between her group and the exiting couple. When she began yelling at the couple, police tried to calm Cobbs down and warned her that she was getting loud and disorderly.

A woman in Cobbs’ group then attempted to calm her down, but this reportedly did not work. Police claim Cobbs continued to behave disruptively and was warned that she would be arrested if she did not calm down.

She obviously did not calm down and was eventually arrested and taken to the Porter County Jail for disorderly conduct.

The rest of Cobbs’ group picked up the tab.
