Hermès signs lease for Nashville store

ON THE WAY TO MUSIC CITY: Hermès has signed a lease to open an 8,000-square-foot store in Nashville’s Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood.

The lease was signed with AJ Capital Partners, a Nashville-based developer that has redeveloped 18 acres of mixed-use real estate in the neighborhood south of downtown Nashville.

The Hermès shop, the French brand’s first in the state of Tennessee, is scheduled to open in fall 2025, according to the developer.

“The Hermès boutique will be located on the historic May Hosiery Mills campus, a repurposing of the South’s oldest hosiery factory, dating back to 1897,” said Ben Weprin, founder and CEO of AJ Capital Partners, in a statement Thursday. “The opening of Hermès is a testament to the neighborhood’s enduring quality and artistry.”

Nashville’s Wedgewood-Houston, or WeHo, has recently seen strong development and an influx of new businesses, including trendy restaurants, bars, shops, lofts, galleries and studios, many of which have moved into converted factories and warehouses while preserving the neighborhood’s historic architectural character.

A Hermès spokesperson confirmed that the lease had been signed and that further details of the store would be announced at a later date.

Hermès management recently expressed confidence in the US market. As reported, loyal local consumers and leather goods are helping Hermès defy the global decline in luxury spending. The French luxury company outpaced its competitors in the first quarter, posting a 17 percent increase in sales to €3.81 billion at constant exchange rates. Most future Hermès store openings will be concentrated in the US and China. Last spring, Hermès opened a store in Princeton, New Jersey, and other new US openings took place in Aspen and Austin.
