SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) β€” A week ago, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in San Antonio rose 15 cents, but this week the tide has turned.

For the second time in two weeks, the price of regular gasoline in Alamo City is at $2.99 ​​per gallon, and it is uncertain how prices will evolve toward the end of the summer.

According to AAA Texas, the statewide average gasoline price for regular unleaded is $3.05 per gallon, down one cent from a week ago and 41 cents per gallon from the same day last year.

Of the major metropolitan areas in Texas studied, drivers in the El Paso metropolitan area pay the most, averaging $3.27 per gallon, while drivers in McAllen pay the least, at $2.85 per gallon.

The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.44, one cent less than the same day last week and 42 cents less per gallon than the same day last year.

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand rose slightly last week from 8.96 million barrels per day to 9.04.

At the same time, total domestic gasoline inventories fell from 225.1 million barrels to 222.2 million barrels. Gasoline production fell slightly last week, averaging 9.7 million barrels per day. Weak gasoline demand and stable oil prices could lead to a further decline in pump prices.
