Grant only managed one full practice before going down. According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the special teamer suffered a hamstring injury on Wednesday that forced him off the practice field.

Unfortunately, this is not a shocking development for Grant, who has played through a number of injuries in recent years. After signing with the Browns ahead of the 2022 season, Grant suffered a torn Achilles tendon that ended his season before it even began. The veteran suffered another season-ending injury during the 2023 preseason, this time due to a torn patellar tendon.

Before his injury spree, the former sixth-round pick was one of the NFL’s most dynamic returners. Grant collected six return touchdowns in his six healthy seasons, including two kickoffs of 100-plus yards. Grant also showed some strength on offense, including a 2020 season with the Dolphins in which he made 36 catches for 373 yards.

Given his ability on special teams, teams have been willing to overlook his recent injury issues. Grant has been a familiar name on the practice circuit this offseason, receiving attention from the Eagles, Saints and Jets. Grant could potentially play again this season if he can negotiate his release from the Falcons.

In Atlanta, Grant would likely compete with the likes of Ray-Ray McCloud And Avery Williams for return snaps. He could also have seen a role in the offense, especially after Rondale Moore‘s injury meant the end of the season.
