FLORIDA — The best inexpensive restaurants in Florida are at Pummarola in Miami Beach, according to a new analysis of inexpensive restaurants in 500 U.S. cities.
The list of “Best Places for Cheap Eats in Every State,” compiled by online lender CashNetUSA, takes into account both menu prices and Yelp customer reviews.
Overall, customers gave Pummarola Pizzeria Napoletana 4.95 stars on a 5.0 scale.
There are six Pummarola pizzerias in South Florida, including restaurants in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Coral Gables and Boca Raton. Guests can try pizza Margherita or spicy salami, as well as eggplant parmigiana.
Founder Rosa Donna Rummo said the little red Fiat 500 she drove around Naples was called “Pummarola,” which means “tomato” in the Neapolitan dialect. She wanted to share her love of cooking with more than just her family and friends, so in 1968 she founded Pummarola, just blocks from her home in Naples, where she ran the place for 20 years.
Over 40 years after Rosa’s original Pummarola was founded in Italy, her four grandchildren decided to reopen Pummarola around the world.
A July 2024 Yelp review said, “The food was amazing and the only thing better than the pizza was the customer service! Super friendly staff who go out of their way to recommend other places to explore in Miami. If you’re looking for authentic and fresh pizza made by the nicest staff, Pummarola is the place for you!”
