SAN ANTONIO – Hunters and anglers in Texas can now purchase their licenses for the 2024-2025 season.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said license sales began Thursday. With the exception of one-year all-water fishing licenses, current licenses expire at the end of August.

Hunters and anglers can purchase additional types of digital tags for lifetime hunting, lifetime fishing and exempt anglers. Digital youth hunting licenses are also available for purchase.

With the digital license, holders do not receive a printed license or printed tags.

Instead, hunters and anglers can access them through the TPWD Outdoor Annual or My Texas Hunt Harvest mobile apps. License holders must have the digital forms on hand at all times while hunting or fishing, according to TPWD.

If you would like a printed license, you can also purchase it online and have it sent to you by mail.

To purchase a hunting, fishing or combination license and tags, visit the TPWD website, call 1-800-895-4248 or go to a retailer that sells licenses, such as HEB or Academy.

According to TPWD, Texans purchase over 3.9 million hunting and fishing licenses each year.

The funds will go toward “a variety of conservation efforts and recreational opportunities,” TPWD explains in a press release.

“Some of the many projects made possible through license sales include fish stocking, wildlife management, habitat restoration, public hunting leases, river fishing access, and Texas game wardens,” the press release continued.

Anglers will also have the opportunity to purchase tags for oversized spotted sea trout, a system that is new this year. The tagging system will come into effect on September 1st.

Fall hunting season depends on where you live and what you hunt.

The general hunting season for white-tailed deer begins on November 2 in both the North and South Zones.
