Manchester United ended the 2023/24 season with a memorable FA Cup title win. In an entertaining final on May 25, Erik ten Hag’s team beat local rivals Manchester City 2-1.
The team held firm when the two teams met for the Community Shield match on August 10, but lost on penalties after the teams ended up drawing 1-1. Despite the defeat, it was a performance that gives the team in red some optimism for the upcoming domestic league season.
United, who finished eighth in the league last year, face Fulham at Old Trafford on Friday 16 August in the opening game of the 2024–25 Premier League season.
The club also sees the return of former hero Ruud van Nistelrooy, who will support Ten Hag on the coaching bench.
Fulham, meanwhile, are still recruiting new players. The west London side finished 13th in the league table last season. One of their 13 wins last season was a 2-1 away victory against Manchester United.
