The non-profit organizations One Safe Place and Children’s Legacy Center from Redding are joining forces

Redding’s One Safe Place and Children’s Legacy Center will merge.

Representatives of the nonprofits announced their unity initiative on August 6, saying they would announce an updated mission statement and core values over the next 13 weeks as they launch.

They will also be launching a new name this year.

“We’re going to choose a different word each week that represents a core value for us as an organization, and then we’re going to associate that word with how it fits with our program and our company culture,” said Kimberly Johnson, CEO of One Safe Place. “It’s all going to lead up to us being able to announce the new name of our new nonprofit.”

She added, “When two organizations come together, a lot of change happens. And seeing a 50-year-old organization come together with a relatively new startup nonprofit that’s only been around for eight years has been far more inspiring and challenging than I could have ever imagined. The merging of these two organizations, cultures and community perspectives has been an incredible gift.”

The focus of their work continues to be helping victims and providing trauma-informed care.

The updated mission statement will be published next week.

In addition, they will soon be announcing their latest projects and programs, including a modernized shelter and a new transitional housing program for victims of human trafficking and domestic violence who want to get back on their feet.
