A woman died when she got caught in the baggage carousel at an airport.

Firefighters said she was trapped in the conveyor belt system at Terminal 5. Paramedics pronounced the 57-year-old woman dead at the scene.

According to a spokesman for the Ministry of Labor, the woman was not a worker at the airport.

According to Chicago police, surveillance videos showed her entering the employee-only area shortly before 2:30 a.m. Her body was not discovered until five hours later.

This area of ​​the international terminal has numerous conveyor belts that transport baggage to and from aircraft. Bags in this area also go through customs.

Police did not disclose whether they were able to track the woman’s movements after she entered the restricted area.
