Walmart reports consolidated sales growth of 4.8% in Q2 FY25

Multinational retail conglomerate Walmart reported consolidated revenue of $169.3 billion for the second quarter (Q2) of fiscal year 2025 (FY25), up 4.8% from $161.6 billion in the same period of fiscal year 2024 (FY24).

The retailer’s e-commerce sales increased 21% in the quarter, primarily due to pickup and delivery from stores and the marketplace.

Walmart reported consolidated operating income of $7.9 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2025, an increase of 8.5% from $7.3 billion in the year-ago quarter.

Adjusted operating profit also rose 7.2 percent to $7.9 billion.

Walmart reported earnings per share of $0.56 in the second quarter of fiscal 2025, a decrease of 42.3% from $0.97 in the second quarter of fiscal 2024.

The retailer reported a 43 basis point increase in its consolidated gross profit margin during the quarter, led by Walmart US and Walmart International.

For the quarter, Walmart US net sales increased 4.1% to $115.3 billion and international net sales increased 7.1% to $29.6 billion.

Walmart President and CEO Doug McMillon said, “Our team delivered another strong quarter. They work hard every day to help our customers and members save time and money.”

“Every part of our business is growing – sales in stores and clubs are increasing, e-commerce is growing as we build in pickup, and delivery is growing even faster as our speed increases. Our newer businesses like marketplace, advertising and membership are also contributing, diversifying our profits and building the resilience of our business model.”

For the full year 2025, Walmart expects consolidated net sales growth of 3.75% to 4.75% and adjusted earnings per share in the range of $2.35 to $2.43.

In the third quarter, the retailer expects consolidated net sales to increase by 3.25 to 4.25 percent and consolidated operating profit to grow by 3.0 to 4.5 percent.

Adjusted earnings per share are expected to be in the range of $0.51 to $0.52.

In June of this year, Walmart expanded the reach of its InHome delivery service, extending it to an additional ten million households.
