Trump had initially abandoned the planned debate on September 10 because it was scheduled for a time when Biden was his opponent. Instead, he proposed a debate moderated by Fox News on September 4 in front of an audience.

“Either I see them on September 4th, or I don’t see them at all,” Trump posted on August 3 on his social media platform Truth Social.

He then reiterated his commitment to the debate at a press conference at his Mar-a-Largo country club in Florida and continued to push for a debate on September 4 and a third, this time on September 25 with NBC.
