Take a photo of your food and feed a family in North Texas

GiftAMeal partners with the North Texas Food Bank to turn photos into meals for families in need. Founded by Andrew Glantz, the nonprofit works with over 900 restaurants in 38 states, including North Texas.

Every time a guest takes a photo of their order at a partner restaurant using the GiftAMeal app, a meal is donated to a Plano family. During September, GiftAMeal users can participate in a photo-sharing challenge by taking pictures of their food or drinks at participating restaurants. Each photo triggers a meal donation to a local food bank.

At the end of the month, the best photos will be featured in a vote on GiftAMeal social media, and the top photo will have 1,000 meals donated to the local food bank near where it was taken.

Participating restaurants in Collin County include The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, Gong Cha, Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya, and Mici Italian, among others. Download the app to see all participating restaurants.

“We are thrilled to launch the Hunger Action Month Photo Sharing Challenge,” Glantz said in an official statement. “Not only does this initiative engage our community in a fun and meaningful way, but it also greatly increases our impact on local food banks. We’re excited to see the creativity of our users and work together to fight hunger.”

Additionally, restaurants that partner with GiftAMeal during September will enjoy a special benefit. If you use the promo code HUNGER when signing up, GiftAMeal will donate an additional 50 meals to the restaurant’s local food bank (up to 1,000 meals per brand if multiple locations participate). Hunger Action Month, organized by Feeding America, is a national campaign to mobilize the public to fight hunger. Each September, individuals, charities, businesses and government agencies come together to raise awareness and inspire efforts to end hunger in the United States.
