As part of its plan to build a total of fourteen hydrogen filling stations by the end of the year, truck manufacturer Nikola is preparing to open a new filling station in Stockton, California.

According to two new job postings on LinkedIn, the company has been looking for both a hydrogen service technician and a fuel attendant for the new filling station since Thursday.

As one social media user noted, the station should align with Nikola’s strategy of building stations at its dealer partners’ locations. This new station is likely to be located at the Stockton plant of Ethero, a partner of the truck maker.

“Presumably this is a Hyla station at the Ethero Truck + Energy dealership location there, as Nikola has been working with its dealers lately to build fueling stations at their locations,” Nate Meininger wrote on X.

Currently, Nikola’s subsidiary Hyla operates four gas stations in California, including one in Oakland and three in the Los Angeles area. The manufacturer will soon open a new station in Wilmington, Long Beach, according to Hyla’s website.

The target for the number of stations built this year includes a combination of Hyla-branded sites and partner-operated sites.

Earlier this week, the company opened a new station at Tom’s Truck Center, a partner in Nikola’s sales and service dealer network, on one of the busiest truck routes in the United States.

Last Friday, the truck maker said it expects to increase deliveries of its fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) from 72 in the second quarter to 80 to 100 in the third quarter.

For the full year, Nikola expects to deliver 300 to 350 vehicles. That delivery forecast represents a significant boost for the Arizona-based company, which is looking to convince large fleet operators to adopt its truck models.

Vancouver-based HTEC announced last week that the Nikola trucks have passed their vehicle acceptance tests and will now be integrated into the Pilot Trucks fleet in Canada.

On the last day of July, Nikola opened the first commercial hydrogen fueling station in Ontario, Canada. The station was inaugurated jointly with IT Industries, the company’s first dealer partner in the country.
