Large convenience store company comes to Texas and New Mexico

It seems like there’s always a conversation about convenience stores in Texas. Much of that conversation revolves around the iconic Buc-ee’s locations. However, there are many other companies trying to take a piece of the popular gas stations and convenience stores’ pie.

Recently, we heard about popular Midwestern convenience store chain Casey’s General Stores acquiring CEFCO. And we also heard about Allsup’s plans to expand its brand in Texas and open more stores. But now we learn that there’s another major convenience store company planning to come to the Lone Star State.

Opening of locations in Texas and New Mexico

If you have ever vacationed in Mexico, it is very likely that you have seen or visited one of these convenience stores before. I know I have, and it was very similar to almost any other convenience store. I am talking about OXXO convenience stores.

According to KXAN, the OXXO stores are operated by convenience store giant FEMSA, which entered into a deal to buy 249 grocery stores in Texas and New Mexico. The deal cost $385 million. The stores were purchased by a well-known Texas company, Delek US Holdings. Most of Delek’s stores are located in Texas.

When will the stores change their names?

It’s not yet known when OXXO stores will take over the former Delek locations in Texas, but we know it’s coming soon.

A real battle for convenience stores has broken out in Texas.
