Employee of a dollar store in Bloomfield pushed and kicked in the face: Police

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A shoplifting attempt at a discount store in Bloomfield ended in violence last week, authorities said Friday.

According to Bloomfield police, officers responded to the Dollar General store at 600 Bloomfield Avenue on August 9 after receiving a call about a robbery.

A store employee reported to officers that a man and a woman hid laundry detergent and other items in a bag and attempted to leave the store without paying. When the employee confronted them, the man allegedly pushed her to the ground and kicked her in the face. The suspects then fled the scene, police said.

Bloomfield police located and arrested Andrea Morton, 45, and Vita Ford, 43, both of Newark. They were transported to police headquarters and charged accordingly, authorities said.
