A Las Vegas sushi restaurant closes while a popular Chinatown restaurant moves to the casino

Hot on the heels of Lindo Michoacan’s expansion into the Palace Station Casino, Chinatown favorite China Mama is moving to the central Las Vegas casino, taking over the space currently occupied by Boathouse Asian Eatery. Boathouse will be open for the last time on Sunday, September 1.

Family-run China Mama has made a name for itself with its Americanized Chinese and traditional Chinese dishes. Its steamed pork buns filled with pork and broth are a highlight on a menu that includes soup dumplings and mapo tofu. The original China Mama on Jones Boulevard closed after a fire in March of last year. In May 2023, the takeout-only China Mama Express opened on Rainbow Boulevard, and a month later, China Mama reopened in Shanghai Plaza in Chinatown.

Last June, the upscale Spring by China Mama opened at 4480 Paradise Road Suite 700A with bold decor and a generous display of wraps, Peking duck and mixed vegetables used to make Lao Chang spring wraps. The new China Mama is scheduled to open this fall.
