There are a few places in New Jersey that are known for being haunted, but the part of the Garden State that Travel & Leisure named one of the most haunted parts of the country might surprise you.

My first thought was that the most haunted place had to be a B&B in Cape May, but it turns out it’s the entire Pine Barrens that made the list of the 20 most haunted places in America.

The Pine Barrens are no small place. They cover 1.1 million acres and make up more than 20% of New Jersey. That means New Jersey is probably home to the world’s largest haunted house.

This isn’t the first time the Pine Barrens has been on such a list, but the Garden State is proud to have a representative on the 2024 list.
