CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri (KBSI) – The manager of Cape Regional Airport is leaving the airport to take a job in Collierville, Tennessee.

Katrina Amos submitted her resignation effective September 13. She will become Collierville’s first deputy city manager and will begin her new role in September 2024.

Amos has served as Airport Manager since 2020 and oversaw a period of significant growth and development at the airport.

During her tenure, she played a key role in managing Essential Air Service’s airline transitions, administering significant grants, building a new commercial airline terminal, remodeling Taxiway B, constructing new T-hangars, acquiring land and buildings, securing a new restaurant operator, and many other operational improvements.

Amos was involved in developing a partnership with Southeast Missouri State University to support aviation-related programs such as the Professional Pilot Program at the airport.

Amos managed major projects, including overseeing a $2 million annual budget and managing $30 million in federal grants.

Her leadership skills in contract negotiations, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are considered critical to the success of the City of Cape Girardeau.

“It has been an honor to serve as airport manager of the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport,” said Amos. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together and I am confident the airport will continue to thrive for years to come. I look forward to future opportunities in my new role as assistant city manager in Collierville, Tennessee.”

“I want to thank Dr. Haskin and the city leadership for the opportunity to lead the airport into a new chapter. I am confident it is an asset that the community can be proud of. I am ready to support this transition as the city works to identify a candidate to continue the progress at CGI.”

“It is a pleasure to welcome Katrina to Collierville,” said Molly Mehner, Collierville City Manager. “Her extensive management experience combined with her strong leadership skills make her an invaluable addition to our team. Katrina’s role will strengthen our staff strength and allow the administration to focus more on long-term strategic planning.”

Amost holds a Bachelor of Business Administration. She is currently completing her Masters in Business Administration/Management and Leadership from Purdue University Global. She is also an AAAE Certified Member (CM) and has served on several boards including the Missouri State Aviation Council and the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.

In her new role as Deputy City Manager, Amos will support the City’s long-term strategic planning efforts, work closely with various local and state agencies, and help build innovative partnerships to meet the City’s evolving needs.

“Collierville captured my heart the first time I visited,” said Katrina. “The people, small-town charm and big-city amenities left a lasting impression on me and my family. I knew immediately that this was an area where my family could thrive.”

Amos will move to Collierville with her husband of 22 years, Leroy, and their three children.

“I look forward to working with a great team committed to the mission of improving the quality of life while preserving the charm and values ​​that make Collierville so special,” said Amos.

The announcement of a new airport manager for the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport is imminent, and city leaders say they are considering several excellent options.
