Hibma tells us about Unity Meal, the mobile food distribution

Sheldon, Iowa – The Sheldon Area Unity Meal has been around for several years.

Barb Hibma of Honor God Ministries is one of the people who started it and we had the opportunity to visit with her on Friday morning on our KIWA-FM program “Talk of the Town” which airs every weekday at 8:30am.

Hibma tells us how the Unity Meal began.

She says it’s more than just sitting together and eating a meal.

Although the meal takes place at the Living Water Community Church on Old Highway 60 – 2nd Avenue, Hibma tells us that it is not affiliated with any particular church.

According to Hibma, guests often tell her that they really appreciate the food, as they would otherwise eat alone.

The next Sheldon Unity Meal will take place next Monday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Living Water Community Church.

Hibma says that not only churches but also companies support the monthly meal.

Hibma tells us that they also partner with the Food Bank Of Iowa and distribute food, also at the Living Water Community Church.

The next visit to the food bank will take place on Thursday, September 5. The food bank night will be postponed to Thursday.

According to Hibma, Coats For Kids’ food distribution will take place on the other side of the building during the October and November food distribution.

If you would like to donate, you can call Hibma at 712-541-1502.
