Bewilderment owner Brandon Love talks about the new store in Lancaster
LANCASTER – The new Bewilderment store at 131 N. Columbus St. not only sells items like scented wax, aroma sprays, car fresheners, shirts, stickers and more, it also promotes mental health.
Brandon Love owns both the store and www.bewilderment.com.
“Bewilderment is a 10-year-old family business that I started with my great-grandmother using some of her old recipes,” he said. “It’s always been a business that’s been tied to promoting mental health, because of my own struggles. It’s grown into this huge community we call BewilderBuds, a Facebook group. It’s called a meeting place for mental health.”
Love is from Baltimore, Maryland, but now lives in Fairfield County.
“North Columbus Street is really becoming a shopping paradise in downtown Lancaster,” he said. “It’s exciting to be a part of it. I’ve been here months before and talked to all the business owners. We found this fantastic location. It’s a historic building and used to be a funeral home. A 19th century funeral home is now a very fun department store.”
Love said he would like to expand the store by 30% over the next six months to offer more products.
“We’ve really been fighting for the last two months to be open for back-to-school season,” he said. “Fall is my favorite time of year, so I really wanted to show what we can do.”
Bewilderment is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
