NYPD uses drones to thwart late-night burglary in Queens | WATCH

According to police, a group of armed men stormed a family’s home in Queens during a late-night burglary on Saturday.

During the attempted robbery in Douglaston, the men allegedly held several family members against their will. However, a woman with a baby was able to flee the scene before police arrived.

In response, New York police surrounded the house at 2 a.m. and used drones to locate the men inside.

After the call, officials said they had requested air support, but it was canceled due to poor visibility.

This then prompted them to use drones instead.

“Although our air unit was grounded due to poor visibility, our drones were able to respond and provide invaluable assistance in apprehending the suspects,” NYPD Commissioner Kaz Daughtry posted on X on Saturday.

During the attack, one victim was punched in the face and the other was hit with a hammer.

“This response is an example of the professionalism and dedication our officers demonstrate every day to keep New Yorkers safe,” Daughtry said.

The victims refused medical attention and are believed to be fine.

The three men were arrested and are still facing charges.
