Former McDonald’s five-star All-American and projected lottery pick Cooper Flagg, now in Durham preparing to shine for the Duke basketball team in 2024-25, is the latest example of a Blue Devil shining at Rucker Park. His game-winning three hits and general competitive spirit went viral around this time last year:

Perhaps one or two future Blue Devils will shine under the bright spotlight on Wednesday at the SLAM Summer Classic Volume 6, presented by NBA 2K.

There is no guarantee that any of the candidates on the invitational list, which consists mostly of five-star players and a few four-star players from the 2025 and 2026 recruiting phases, will ever become a Duke basketball player. But at least some are at the top of Scheyer & Co.’s wish list.

All month long, SLAM HS Hoops has been announcing the invited prep players one by one on social media.

So far, four of the ten announced invitations have gone to recruits who have an offer from the Blue Devils and have not eliminated Duke from the race.

Three of them are targets for 2025: Brayden Burries, 5-star guard at Roosevelt High School (California), Caleb Wilson, 5-star forward at Holy Innocents Episcopal School (Georgia) and Acaden Lewis, 4-star guard at Sidwell Friends School (DC).

The other is the program’s youngest offeree in the 2026 cycle: Miikka Muurinen, a four-star forward from Compass Prep (Arizona).

As of now, Duke has not yet secured any commitments for 2025 or 2026.
