It is not always possible to trace the ownership history of classic Corvettes.

However, this sunfire yellow Corvette convertible from 1966 does not have this problem.

Before our friends at Corvette Mike offered this Sting Ray on Bring a Trailer, the same owner enjoyed it for 42 years.

The car was originally sold by Fletcher’s Chevrolet in Encino, California in 1982 and remained in this condition in the capable hands of the same owner for the next few decades.

It even won an NCRS Chevrolet Bowtie Preservation Excellence Award in 1995 and appears to have been well cared for in the nearly 30 years since then.

However, that doesn’t mean that this vintage Sting Ray is a trailer queen, as it has several small paint chips all over the body, especially on the panels under the front bumpers.

The 327/300 V8 engine is mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Other options seen on the $5,425.25 sticker include air conditioning, power windows and AM/FM radio. Not on this sticker, but still visible on the car, are power steering and a teak steering wheel, which may have been added later to enhance the car.

The black interior is not perfect, but is in very good condition for a car that has only done a little over 80,000 miles.

With four days to go, the highest bid is $42,500. How high would you go?
