Opening date for cult clothing brand Triads’ new Teesside store has been set

Legendary Teesside fashion brand Triads has announced the opening date of a new store.

Unfortunately, the company left Middlesbrough town centre earlier this year but will soon open a new branch in Yarm. Triads, a luxury clothing store, had been based in Middlesbrough since 1988 but a decline in footfall and customer complaints about parking charges were cited as reasons for the move.

The company has now taken over the former Bauer at Home furniture store on Yarm’s High Street.

Abigail Donaldson, Managing Director of Triads Clothing Ltd, said the company was delighted to announce the opening of the new store following refurbishment later this month.

She said: “We are excited to announce that Triads Clothing will officially open on August 24th. Although we will be opening without our sign at the front, we are still excited to welcome everyone into our store.” Opening day will be a celebration with drinks, cake and music.

Abigail, a graduate of Teesside University’s Business Fashion course, said Middlesbrough had been good to the company and they wanted to stay in Teesside. She had previously said the town did not get as many visitors as it used to and many customers had had problems with parking.

She said: “The new store in Yarm is a new venture for us and an exciting one for our current clientele. With a number of successful independent stores on Yarm High Street, we believe Triads Clothing is a perfect fit for the High Street. In addition, Yarm offers free parking for up to an hour’s stay on the High Street, which is ideal for our customers.

“We are excited to bring fashion back to Teesside. Triads is known for selling limited stock and exclusive pieces and we want to bring that back to our customers after the decline during lockdown.”

Triads on Albert Road was one of Middlesbrough’s coolest shops for decades, but was sold last year. The store opened in 1988 and quickly made a name for itself across the north for “edgy, cutting-edge” clothing. In 2022, the Sunday Times called the retailer a “local fashion hero.”
