Neighbors create art together in Lincoln Park

Neighbors create art together in Lincoln Park

WICHITA, Kansas (KWCH) – Residents near Lincoln Park are on a mission to build community through creativity.

That’s what brought people to Art in the Park in Lincoln Park on Saturday.

It is hosted by T, like ice cream parties and barbecues

Karen Kasten, who has lived across from the park for about 30 years, started the Lincoln Park Project about a year ago.

“It’s getting bigger and bigger, and that’s our wish too. People are getting to know each other and discovering each other’s strengths and treasures,” Kasten said.

The event saw neighbors come together and create various art projects, and thanks to a nearby church, they were also able to cool off with ice cream.

“To provide an opportunity for us all to be in the same place and do great things like ‘Art in the Park,’ which Karen has been involved with, to bring a lot of people together in this place so we can have fun together,” said Patricia Houston, associate pastor of Greater Harvest Tabernacle Christian Fellowship.

Art in the Park takes place once a month in Lincoln Park from May to October. The project also hosts other events in the park, such as ice cream parties and barbecues.
