Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa announced that they are expecting their first child, who will be the first grandchild of King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan.

Queen Rania of Jordan is flocking to stores because she can’t wait to become a grandmother for the first time.
The Royal Hashemite Court announced on April 10 that the eldest son of King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan, Crown Prince Hussein, is expecting his first child with his wife, Princess Rajwa. The baby will be the first grandchild of Hussein’s parents, King Abdullah, 62, and Queen Rania, 53.
Speaking to Al Arabiya on the occasion of his father’s Silver Jubilee, Crown Prince Hussein recently said they were “very excited about the new phase.”
“With the children, everything will definitely change. I don’t know what to expect, but thank God we are excited and the family is happy too,” he told Al Arabiya, adding that Queen Rania is preparing for the new arrival in a understandable way.
“My mother started shopping for baby things weeks ago,” he said.

Crown Prince Hussein, 29, and Princess Rajwa, 30, announced that their family is expanding 10 months after their spectacular wedding. Members of the royal family from around the world, including Britain’s Prince William, Kate Middleton and Princess Beatrice, traveled to Amman for the celebrations, which included a glamorous banquet with evening gowns and glittering tiaras (and an epic group photo!).
Since Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa announced their engagement in 2022, Rajwa has been welcomed into the royal family. Speaking at a pre-wedding event last year, Queen Rania said: “I will never forget how happy His Majesty and I were when Al Hussein told us he wanted to marry Rajwa. She is the perfect answer to all my prayers for him. May you always be a source of happiness and support for each other.”
In an enchanting performance, all three of Crown Prince Hussein’s siblings took on special roles on their royal wedding day. Prince Hashem escorted the bride down the aisle, while Princess Iman and Princess Salma brought up the rear. The sisters lovingly adjusted Rajwa’s dress and veil as she walked through the gardens of Zahran Palace to the wedding ceremony site.
Princess Rajwa has since undertaken royal engagements with her husband and in-laws, including a trip to Washington, DC.

Queen Rania also spoke about how she is preparing her daughter-in-law for a life in the public eye.
She said during an appearance in 2023 on TODAY, “One of the first things I did, just before my son announced his engagement, was to take Rajwa aside and tell her that there is no such thing as a 100% approval rating. There will always be people who are against you and my advice is, ‘Please try not to read the comments.'”
“You know, you’re just going to have self-doubt and there’s always going to be negativity – and that’s not you, it’s the person. They’re unhappy with their own life. So don’t carry that unhappiness around with you… it’s going to knock your confidence,” the royal added.

On her first wedding anniversary on June 1, the Royal Hashemite Court released new pregnancy photos of Princess Rajwa. The outdoor shots show Rajwa wearing a red pleated maxi dress by Alice and Olivia with gold statement earrings and two bangles as she smiles and cradles her belly.
A male descendant will be second in line to the throne of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The kingdom’s constitution stipulates that the throne is inherited by the dynasty of King Abdullah Ibn Al-Hussein and passed down in lineal succession through male heirs. If the baby is female, the line of succession does not change. Regardless of gender, the baby is expected to receive the titles His/Her Royal Highness and Prince/Princess.
Crown Prince Hussein is heir to the throne, followed by his brother, Prince Hashem, 18. Queen Rania and King Abdullah are also parents of daughters Princess Iman, 27, and Princess Salma, 23, who are not in the line of succession.
