Hundreds come to the National Night Out event at Rocky Point Park in Warwick

Hundreds gathered at Rocky Point Park in Warwick on Saturday to take part in this year’s National Night Out event.

The annual campaign is carried out by thousands of communities across the country and aims to promote long-term partnerships between police and neighborhoods.

The weather held out and it was a fun event for the whole family.

A truly unique opportunity to socialize with the community and end with fireworks.

The city’s annual “National Night Out” event attracted hundreds of residents to the fields of Rocky Point Park this afternoon.

With lots of good food, music and company.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of the whole thing was a strengthened sense of unity in the city.

The highly anticipated annual event serves as a bridge between local community members and the Warwick Police Department, providing people of all ages with the opportunity to ask questions and build meaningful relationships with those who keep us safe.

Sergeant John Zaborski says his team is not taking this opportunity lightly.

“We need to show them that we are here to help. We are not all bad and we do a lot of good for the community,” Zabroski said.

Both Providence and Cranston hosted their annual evening last week.

The event in Central Falls has been postponed until next Wednesday, August 21st.

This year’s event marks the 41st year of hosting a national evening of celebration.

According to organizers, since its founding, its mission has expanded to over 38 million residents in 17,000 different communities across the country.
