More and more people are realizing the personal and environmental benefits of living in a tiny house. The increasing demand for compact homes means that builders are working hard to develop comfortable, functional and aesthetically pleasing models that allow homeowners to live a minimalist lifestyle and enjoy all of the benefits, including a smaller carbon footprint, lower bills and more freedom and flexibility.

Tiny houses are all about using space wisely. While many designs include lofts to make the most of vertical space, some people prefer to have all of their rooms on the ground floor. Single-story tiny houses have a certain appeal for those who aren’t big fans of loft bedrooms and want the traditional comforts of a classic home.

The newest tiny house on wheels with a downstairs sleeping area we’ve found is this gorgeous 8.5-meter model from online marketplace Tiny House Listings. With a modern exterior and a spacious, light-filled interior, this compact abode is a dream come true for those who want a closer connection to nature, a conventional home configuration with everything within reach on the ground floor, and all the necessary amenities for modern living. While this abode does have a loft, it’s not set up as a sleeping area. It’s intended to be used as storage for personal items.

Built on a three-axle trailer, this micro home can be easily towed and is designed for easy relocation within the continental US. It catches the eye of passersby with its clean, streamlined look that harmoniously combines wood and cement board siding. This mix of materials, coupled with a sturdy steel roof and two large picture windows, means it blends effortlessly into any natural setting. In addition, it stands out with a distinctive roofline that is architecturally interesting and gives the feeling of more space inside. It features a steep gable roof over the bedroom and living area and a pent roofline over the kitchen and bathroom.

In terms of living space, this tiny house offers a footprint of just 20.8 square meters. Despite its compact size, it is surprisingly well-equipped with amenities and features you would normally find in a brick and mortar home. The open floor plan includes a bedroom on the ground floor, a cozy living room, a spacious and fully functional kitchen, and a well-designed bathroom. The design also includes plenty of storage options, including a small loft above the bathroom.

Overall, the interior is characterized by simplicity and functionality, but that doesn’t mean that aesthetics have been neglected. A neutral color palette, combined with a high roof and generous glass surfaces all around, gives the living space a Scandinavian-inspired look.

The first thing you notice when you walk in through the large glass doors is the lack of partitions between the different functional areas. So the ground floor is one large, open space for communal living, with the bathroom being the only separate room. Considering that this is a tiny home model aimed at singles or couples, this lack of privacy shouldn’t be a big problem. In addition, this configuration creates an uninterrupted flow and allows for easy transition between areas.

The living room takes up the center of the house. It contains a sofa with integrated storage, a side table and a separate armchair for additional seating. It may be cozy and minimalist, but it offers a beautiful environment to receive guests and spend relaxed evenings together.

The bedroom is located at the end of the house and is furnished with a double bed. It is perfect for those who can’t stand having to climb ladders or stairs to get to bed every night and is very convenient when you have had a busy day. Thanks to the large glass windows surrounding the bed, this area is incredibly bright and offers stunning panoramic views of nature.

The kitchen in this home boasts a black and white aesthetic and offers plenty of cabinets and drawers to store all of your cooking essentials. The modern look is further enhanced by quartz countertops and silver hardware. It is arranged on both sides of the home and is equipped with a stainless steel sink, a two-burner convection range, and an apartment-sized refrigerator/freezer (not pictured). There is also a large pantry for dry foods and some open shelving for displaying potted plants or glasses and bowls.

Next to the pantry, a chic dining table for two stands out. It is located right next to a large window, allowing the owners to enjoy their morning coffee and dine in the evening with a beautiful view.

A sliding door behind the kitchen leads to the bathroom, a compact yet functional space that meets all your hygiene needs. It features a glass-enclosed shower cubicle, a custom vanity unit with sink and a flush or composting toilet.

All in all, this 28-foot tiny house, priced at $70,500, could be the portable dream home for a couple who wants everything on one floor and loves the idea of waking up to a beautiful view every day.
