New Delhi, Aug 18 (PTI) – The Meerut South RRTS station was opened for passenger services on Sunday, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) said.
With the addition of this eight-km section, 42 km of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is now operational and includes nine stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut, the NCRTC said in a statement.
The Namo Bharat trains will run from 6 am to 10 pm on the entire route from Sahibabad to Meerut South. The first train in both directions will depart at 6 am and the last train will leave the terminal stations — Sahibabad and Meerut South — at 10 pm, the statement said.

The concessionary single fare for Namo Bharat trains is Rs 110 for standard class from Sahibabad to Meerut South and Rs 90 for standard class from Ghaziabad to Meerut South, it said.
The Meerut South RRTS station will have the largest parking facility in Uttar Pradesh along the RRTS corridor, thereby increasing passenger convenience, the NCRTC said.
Two parking lots on either side of the station’s entrance and exit cover around 13,000 square meters. These parking lots can accommodate around 1,200 four- and two-wheelers, the statement said.
In addition, there is dedicated parking for autorickshaws. The station has been designed to facilitate entry and exit of vehicles from Meerut and Delhi and has direct access from the main road, it said.
To accommodate differently-abled passengers, the station has a designated parking space and ramps for easy access so that they can travel comfortably on Namo Bharat trains, it said.
According to NCRTC, Meerut South railway station serves as a gateway to Meerut and facilitates travel for commuters from Mohiuddinpur, Bhudbaral, Bahadurpur, Aminagar, Chhajjupur, Kharkhoda, Kadarabad and surrounding areas. With the opening of Namo Bharat train service from Meerut South, passengers will be able to reach Sahibabad in about 30 minutes, it said.
Besides RRTS trains, the station will also serve local metro services for the Meerut region. The station has three tracks – two for RRTS trains and one for metro services – on three platforms. The station consists of three levels: ground floor, mezzanine, concourse and platform. It is about 215 metres long, 36 metres wide and 22 metres high, the statement said.
