If you are looking for a beautiful and affordable place to retire, this list of cities may be of interest to you.

Especially if you want to stay in South Jersey.

World Atlas names South Jersey Town the most affordable place

An article in this week’s World Atlas names Somers Point as one of the best “affordable cities on the Atlantic Coast for retirees.”

That’s right, Somers Point – the gateway to the New Jersey shore – is also attracting national attention as the only place in New Jersey affordable enough to retire.

Granted, this list only consists of cities near the Atlantic coast. That’s fine with me. I love living on the Atlantic coast and if I could help it, I would spend the rest of my life there.

As the article points out, the Atlantic coast stretches 2,000 miles across America, from Florida to Maine. That’s a large area with many different cities you could consider if you want to stay near the coast.

The closest point to where you currently live is Somers Point.

What is so special about Somers Point?

See what World Atlas loves about Somers Point.

It’s close to the glitz, concerts and restaurants of Atlantic City, so that’s fun. World Atlas also likes the atmosphere in SP

Somers Point also has a great community atmosphere with many programs and assistance for retirees. At the Somers Point Senior Citizens Center, retirees can participate in social events such as fitness classes and regular meetings.

World Atlas also points out Somers Point’s special features, such as Kennedy Park, the bike path, and the convenient location of living near Shore Medical Center.

The Affordability of Somers Point

According to Best Places, the cost of living in Somers Point is 21.6% lower than the New Jersey average and 6.1% lower than the U.S. average.

World Atlas is pleased with the affordability of the Somers Point real estate market.

The real estate market in Somers Point is affordable, with the average price just over $388,000. When you compare that to the national average of $528,000, it’s clear why the city is an attractive option for retirees.

I would also like to mention the conveniences of Somers Point. It is close to virtually everything, including local attractions, major highways, and plenty of shopping.

The best thing is the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and many beautiful beaches.

Are you thinking about a post-retirement move? You may want to consider moving to Somers Point.
